Algarve’s favourable climate is ideal for sports and recreation all year round. There are numerous alternatives and a wide range of leisure activities to suit people of all ages visiting or living in Quinta Do Lago. Among the glorious three and a half kilometre stretch of golden sandy beach, the water sports, the tennis academy, horse riding, bird watching and of course golfing, you just have to discover which is the best one for you!

A wonderful Location

Villa Negresco is situated in Quinta Do Lago, approximately 25Km from Faro airport (www.faroairportsguide.com) and can easily be reached by taxi or hire car. A taxi should cost approximately 25 Euros.

Just outside Quinta Do Lago can be found numerous small towns and quaint villages with either lots to do or simply peace and tranquillity, the choice really is yours!

Almancil – (www.portugal-info.net) approx 7Km, a small and friendly village offering a variety of local shops, restaurants and two large, very clean and well stocked supermarkets which offer a huge variety of everything you will require to make your stay homely and as comfortable as possible. These will also provide all you will require from fresh fish, meat and toiletries to a large selection of wine, cheese and champagnes.

Vale Do Lobo – (www.valedolobo.com) approx 4Km, very similar to Quinta Do Lago in that this also offers a wealth of quality golf, restaurants, shops, crazy golf and activities for all ages and budgets. There is also a very well equipped children’s nursery/crèche. The evenings also come
alive with children friendly entertainment and live music.

Quarteira – (www.quarteirauncovered.com) approx 20Km, a busy local town with a fantastic beach and plenty of shopping available and also a local market on certain weekdays which is worth a visit. Quarteira also provides the local fish market for all sorts of freshly caught produce at very reasonable prices…..ideal for the barbeque!

Vilamoura – (www.vilamourauncovered.com) approx 25Km, fantastic marina with some stunning boats and a huge choice restaurants, cafes open all day to suit all budgets. Boat hire and many water based activities including fishing trips, paragliding, speed boat rides, dolphin
trips, family boat trips and crazy golf etc can all be arranged from here along with further quality designer shopping and golf available. Vilamoura also comes very much alive at night time should you fancy a night out within taxi range.

Of course Quinta Do Lago (www.quintadolago.com) itself offers a huge range of outstanding shopping, restaurants, cafes, bars and much more with many activities for both adults and children alike. The Bougainvillea shopping precinct is within walking distance of the Villa and it offers an excellent range of cuisines from Italian, Indian and Pizza along with simple bar snacks and two very friendly ‘public houses’ offering superb food and a great welcoming atmosphere (De Barra and The Melting Pot).

Golf

Quinta Do Lago Golf Undoubtedly the main attraction of Quinta Do Lago and the surrounding areas is the outstanding golf facilities here which are recognised internationally for their quality. The natural features of the terrain, together with the excellence of the design and the maintenance of the fairways places Quinta Do Lago among the best golf courses in Europe and indeed one of the best fifty in the world (Golf Digest). Quinta Do Lago is one of the largest golf complexes in Europe and accounts for more than 20% of golf in the Algarve. Facilities include excellent driving ranges, putting greens, club houses with bars and restaurants as well as the Pro shops.

Quinta Do Lago Riding Centre

The centre has stabling for twenty six horses and a large arena for show jumping and dressage. The staff cater for all standards, novice to advanced riders. Quinta Do Lago has miles of riding trails and the surrounding countryside and uncrowded beaches have much to offer the explorer on horseback.

A three and a half kilometre stretch of golden beach at the edge of the unpolluted waters of the Atlantic Ocean provides diversion and relaxation for all the family. A beach pavilion offers bar and restaurant facilities throughout the summer. Another attractive feature of Quinta Do Lago is the number of freshwater and seawater lakes either forming part of the golf courses or simply as a backdrop for some of the magnificent villas. The main lake with an average depth of two metres is used exclusively for non polluting water sports such as sailing and water surfing. A water surfing school with its own restaurant operates from here.

Tennis

A full tennis academy, the Jimmy Stewart tennis academy (www.tennisalgarve.com) with several tennis courts and its own pavilion is part of the Vilar Do Golf complex and is available for guests of the Villa to play subject to usual charges. Other Quinta Do Lago developments also offer tennis courts for use.
